Maritime Security Barriers: Every Second Counts
Safeguarding Maritime Assets: Worthington Maritime Defense Floating Barriers
In the world of maritime security, every second counts. A boat traveling at 60mph covers an astonishing 88ft. in just one second! If your barrier doesn't stop a boat within this critical timeframe, the threat could be dangerously close, leading to potentially severe damage.
Worthington Maritime Defense Floating Barriers are designed to protect vital maritime assets from water-borne attacks, offering the level of security required in critical situations, just like the USS Cole incident. Our unique design ensures swift displacement of the high energy generated upon impact while remaining upright even during follow-on attacks, providing unparalleled defense.
We take pride in offering comprehensive worldwide maritime security barrier options, tailored to your specific needs:
Engineering and design services for customized solutions.
Professional installation and commissioning for seamless integration.
Annual Maintenance Contracts to ensure long-lasting performance.
Add-on systems, including boat gates, sub-surface anti-swimmer netting, marine lighting, ground-based radar, and enhanced intruder detection, for enhanced protection.
Worthington's Maritime Defense Floating Barriers are extensively tested and certified by the United States Government, adhering to stringent standards outlined in SLE 03-01. When it comes to safeguarding maritime assets, trust in Worthington's reliable and proven solutions.
Ensure your maritime security barriers are up to the standard; choose Worthington for unparalleled defense against potential threats. Contact us today to discuss your security needs and find the best-fit solution for your critical assets.
Security Doesn’t Offer Second Chances
In response to the USS Cole attack in October 2000, Worthington embarked on developing cutting-edge port/maritime security barriers for critical infrastructure protection against waterborne terrorist attacks. Our first generation of small-craft barriers, successfully tested in 2003, provided the necessary stopping capacity against speeding attack vessels.
Addressing Evolving Threats
Worthington's first-generation maritime security barriers were promptly installed at vital dams, water reservoirs, and nuclear power plants. However, recognizing the need for even more robust solutions to tackle evolving threats, we conducted a second round of high-speed physical boat crash trials in 2006. These trials featured enhanced boat capture systems and nets, resulting in our second-generation floating barrier systems, certified and approved by the US Bureau of Reclamations' SLE 03-01 Boat Barrier Certification and Procurement.
Proven Solutions
Worthington's second-generation barriers found applications in securing critical waterside infrastructure, including US Army installations in Iraq, key portside munitions and loading facilities, nuclear power plants, and foreign navy facilities.
Stopping Threats Before They Approach
Our maritime security division designs floating barrier systems with one primary objective: to stop attack boats well before they can reach their targets. With boats traveling at 60 mph (100 km/h) covering 88 feet (27m) every second, our barriers are engineered to swiftly dissipate the high kinetic energy generated during a waterborne attack, effectively halting the attacking vessel's forward momentum and structurally damaging it.
Fully Customizable and Modular
Worthington's Port Security barriers offer complete modularity and customizability to meet specific threat levels and unique client requirements. Design elements include topside capture systems using cable or netting, robust HDPE pontoon float systems, and specialized designs for high-velocity flow conditions.
Comprehensive Features
Our floating barrier systems also incorporate maritime lighting, boat access gates, platforms, shoreline tidal riser systems, and informative signage to ensure comprehensive security solutions for your critical assets.
