Floating Debris Containment Innovation is Driven by Our Values

How Core Values Drive Our Innovation

Worthington Products started in the basement of our founder’s home in 1997. By the year 2001, we moved out of that basement and formally established the name of Worthington Products. Our goal is simple. We want to provide the best value for floating debris containment to solve trash and public safety challenges at dams and hydro-power plants around the world.

Back then, we had little money, a small market, and a set of values. Skip forward to 2022 and our floating debris containment systems are installed in more than 63 countries. Our understanding of boom systems is industry-leading along with our reputation and product range. Today, our TUFFBOOM® barriers are recognized worldwide for floating debris containment helping with the ocean cleanup by stopping floating trash from reaching the oceans. Our tailrace boat barrier floats are protecting the public from dangerous and turbulent flows below dams in spillways and tailrace channels. At low head dams, also known as “Drowning Machines,” our floating signs, land-based dam signs, boat barriers and safety buoys are helping to save lives.

In 2020, we introduced an entire new line of HDPE barriers under the name of ODINBoom® as an all-season, multi-function boom. ODINBoom is the most advanced dam boom available, and it is based on more than 20 years of solid Worthington research and development.

In 2020, as part of our commitment to Public Safety Around Dams, we introduced a Dam Signs division offering the best dam signs according to FEMA Dam Sign Guidelines, Canadian Dam Association Public Safety Around Dams Guidelines and FERC Public Safety Around Dams guidelines.

Throughout all of this, one thing about Worthington has remained constant: the values we were founded upon more than 20 years ago. Those values are posted throughout our facilities, and they are embedded on the back of all of our associate business cards. Those values are shown below. So even though our floating debris containment products may evolve and faces may change, our promise to every Hydroelectric Supervisor, Dam Safety Manager, Engineer and everyone in between is that you can trust Worthington to provide sound advice, competent service and outstanding product quality.

Exceptional Experience

First impressions form lasting impressions.

How we answer our phones; how we communicate internally and externally; how we work together in teams; these are all opportunities to deliver an exceptional experience for our employees, vendors and customers.

Integrity and Trust

We care. Our relationship may involve a transaction, but it is not about the transaction.

We care more about our customer than the transaction. That means if there is another product/company that offers a solution that will allow the customer to achieve their goals for far less cost, we will send them in that direction.

Actions Over Words

Words do matter, but they are hollow if not backed up by action consistent with our values. We can have a written policies. We can say we have certain values. These mean nothing if not backed by action.

Right the First Time

Every interaction, every quote issued, and every sales call made hould be done with care and the hope that it exceeds our customers’ expectations. We want our clients to see us as a company that over-delivers on it promises.

Our values are instrumental to the work we do. No matter the task or project size, we ensure that every solution we develop, is done with our core values in action.
